COVID-19 Procedures

Our efforts continue to center around taking appropriate steps to minimize exposure to COVID-19 for students, staff and families. Here’s a summary of adjustments we’ve made to keep everyone safe. You’ll find a full description of our procedures in the PDF below.

COVID-19 Procedures

COVID-19 Procedure Overview

Symptom Monitoring

  • Children need to be free from fever, diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hour without the aid of medication in order to return to school.

  • Children and staff who are experiencing any COVID symptoms will be asked to stay at home until documentation of a negative COVID test result, or quarantine at home, or a note from a physician indicating symptoms are not COVID related.

  • In the event that someone is diagnosed with COVID, staff and families who are identified as close contacts will be informed. The person’s identity will not be shared.

Vaccination and COVID-19 Testing

  • Carle staff members are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, or to obtain a medical or religious exemption and engage in weekly COVID testing in order to be employed within the Carle system.

  • Volunteers, practicum students and interns are required to be fully vaccinated in order to be placed at Carle.

  • Students are encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as they are eligible.

Use of Masks

CAOS is designated as a non-clinical space, whose masks requirements are governed by Champaign County’s risk level. This level is re-calculated each week and drives masking guidelines for non-clinical spaces at Carle.

  • If the community risk level is low/ medium, masks are not required in non-clinical areas.

  • If the community risk level is high, masks are required for both staff and students.

Cleaning and Sanitization

  • We’re using a new vacuum cleaner with HEPA filters to throuroughly clean carpeted areas.

  • High touch surfaces (tables, chairs, doorknobs, elevator buttons, office equipment) will be cleaned each evening.

  • Toys, tables and chairs will be cleaned weekly using a cleaning substance known to kill COVID-9 germs and allowed to air dry.
